Roof Moss Removal and Treatment
At Exclusive Power Washing we use an industry approved method called "soft washing" to safely but effectively treat the growth and staining on the roof. We use our formulated algaecide solution at low pressure to take care of the job. Other companies out there attempt to blast away with high pressure washing risking great damage and reducing the roofs life significantly.
Our Process:
First, we remove any moss and debris. Large clumps of moss are removed by hand or brush, and we are careful to not remove shingle granules. A special formulated solution is applied to the roof and we apply it at a recommended low pressure.
The special formulated solution we use not only gets rid of moss, but also gets rid of Gloeocapsa Magma; a species of black bacteria that often looks like black streaking down your roof. This can be particularly harmful for individuals prone to allergy flare ups and can have negative health effects. The black bacteria/algae will die and disappear after the application, and the moss growth will turn yellow or white and instantly dies.
After a few days, it will begin to shrivel and after a few months of sun, wind and rain, the moss will be completely gone from the roof. This is the safest, least invasive way to clean the roof.
